Heath began coaching many years ago through youth baseball in Ellington - Farm, Minors, Majors, Juniors and All Stars. He focuses on player development, baseball IQ and game strategy. He has supported multiple players advancing to the next level. More than 10 players from his prior teams have moved on to play at the collegiate level, D2 or D3, and excelling on the field and and in the classroom. Heath's teams have competed in the state tournament at each level. As Mgr/Head Coach of the 17u team in just their second year of existence, the team qualified and went to the second round of the state tournament. 

 

As Mgr/Head coach of the 2018 19u Team, his team posted the best record in Ellington 19u history going 16-5 on regular season and placing 2nd in zone 8. His team put up 125 regular season runs which was a state top 3 statistic going into  the tournament. The team qualified for the State Tournament sweeping early rounds and winning the North Super Regional qualifying his team for the team's first ever State Championship where they came up short against Southington. This finish qualified the team for the New England Super Regional as a top 8 finisher in New England States - a first in Zone 8 since 1992 (East Hartford). Three players in 2018 were selected All State Tournament - Aldrich, Lesco and Young.

 

As Mgr/Head coach of the 2020 17u Team, his team qualified for the State Tournamement and advanced to the State Championship losing to Bristol. His team led the league in stolen bases at 110 on the regular season and competed well with thin pitching due to injuries.

 

As GM of this growing program, the 15u Team has qualified for the state tournament multiple times and was State Championship Runner-Up in 2018 while Coach Mateya was the Manager. The 17u Team, with coach Laughlan the skipper, won the State Championship in 2017 and has been a perennial state qualifier. The 2020 15u Team won the State Championship with Coach Duff at the helm. 

 

Coach Kidd credits several head coaches who have been instrumental in helping him develop the program and providing great experiences and development for the players - Coach Laughlan, Coach Mateya, Coach Duff, Coach Young and, of course, Coach Roberts who was instrumental in expanding the program. A big thank you for our committed assistant coaches who give tirelessly to the program. And, of course, a big thanks to our many players and baseball family.
